Welcome to United Doberman Rescue and Canine Castaways of Minnesota!
Where the dogs are majestic, the volunteer are heroic, and the adopters are legendary. Adopt, Surrender, Volunteer, Support, Foster, Donate About United Doberman Rescue & Canine Castaways of Minnesota We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue based in Minnesota, dedicated to saving the lives of Dobermans and other dogs in need. While our roots are local, our mission extends across the United States—and beyond—because we believe that the need to rescue knows no borders. With over 40 years of experience working with and loving the Doberman breed, we can proudly say: we know Dobermans. Whether you’re seeking help for a Doberman in need or looking to adopt, we’re here to guide you with expert advice and heartfelt support to ensure the right match for your home. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome homeless, abandoned, and neglected Dobermans, Doberman mixes, and other dogs in need, regardless of age or medical condition. We are especially committed to helping those who have suffered abuse begin the journey toward healing through our foster-to-adopt program. In addition to rescue and rehoming, we strive to:
At United Doberman Rescue, every dog matters. Whether you’re here to help, adopt, or learn—welcome to the pack. Serving Dobermans Across Minnesota and Beyond United Doberman Rescue & Canine Castaways of Minnesota is proudly based in Minnesota, but our reach extends far beyond state lines. We serve Dobermans in need across the entire Upper Midwest, south to Texas and Louisiana, west to California, New Mexico, Arizona and in many other areas throughout the United States. We have even helped Dobermans in India, Serbia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. We believe rescue is not just a local responsibility—it’s a nationwide, worldwide commitment. Our mission is to help every Doberman in need—whether it’s a dog in crisis, an overwhelmed owner facing a tough decision, or a shelter or rescue with no space left. We step in where we’re needed most, offering support, solutions, and most importantly, hope. At the heart of our work are values that guide everything we do: respect, trust, teamwork, honesty, and collaboration. These principles define the spirit of rescue and empower us to accomplish truly great things together. Our Foster Program But that’s not all—our rescue pups get the full VIP experience:
For dogs who may have never known a kind touch, a soft bed, or a stable routine, this time in foster care is often their first taste of love, safety, and joy—and it prepares them beautifully for life in a forever home. Collaboration Is at the Heart of Rescue At United Doberman Rescue, we proudly partner with animal rescues across the U.S. and around the world to save purebred Dobermans, Doberman mixes, and other dogs in urgent need. By working together, we can reach more animals, share resources, and give second chances to those who need it most. If you're part of a rescue or shelter and would like to collaborate, we’d love to hear from you—let’s save lives together! Calling All Coffee Lovers! So drink up, friends! Every cup helps us save more Dobermans in need. Coffee with a cause? Yes, please! Our partner rescues: Doberman Rescue of Northern Texas High Desert Doberman Rescue in New Mexico
Our volunteers are dedicated to upholding the standards set forth by the Doberman Pinscher Club of America (DPCA). We adhere to the DPCA Code of Ethics, which guides our practices in rescuing Doberman Pinschers. This code emphasizes integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to the betterment of the breed. For more information on the DPCA Code of Ethics and to learn more about the Doberman breed, including health, temperament, and responsible breeding and pet ownership, please visit the official DPCA website: www.dpca.org. Foster volunteers are always needed! Fostering saves lives Afraid of getting attached? Consider the Alternative...When no one steps up, there’s no second chance. For dogs in overcrowded shelters, it's a numbers game—and far too many are euthanized simply because there’s nowhere for them to go. Yes, saying goodbye to a foster dog can bring tears—but they’re tears of joy, knowing that dog is heading to a loving forever home. That’s a far better heartbreak than the sorrow of knowing a dog died in a shelter—scared, alone, and unloved—because no one came. Be the difference. Foster. Save a life.
