Adoption pending-Opps, Foster fail! It happens, some of the sickest dogs end up being the ones you can never part with. We just got word Atlas's foster family, having been going through the heart worm treatment and seeing how sick the poor boy has gotten, have decided Atlas will never leave their loving home. He still has another couple months to go with the treatments but he has found himself a home! Heart worm preventative every month would have saved this poor guy the pain and sickness he is now going through, sadly the AKC registered breeder who sold him, did not give any heartworm preventative and he was surrendered into rescue heart worm positive. November, 2020-Atlas sadly has been found to be heartworm positive at his recent yearly vet check. We do believe he was heart worm positive when the surrendering owner purchased him from the BYB (AKC) breeder down south. For now, Atlas will have to under-go the very costly and deadly treatments to kill the parasitic worms that have invaded his heart and if not treated, they will kill him. Please make sure you give your dogs monthly heartworm preventative. Poor Atlas would not have to go through all this if the breeder was responsible and cared about the health of Atlas. Atlas will not be available for adoption for at least three months, and we are currently seeking sponsorship only. "Hey all, I'm Atlas! I am 1 years old. I love to play ball and frisbee. I'm kind of cautious initially but take time to warm up to newbies. If you gotta treat I'll show you my sit, shake and some other amazing moves. I dream of a fenced yard, a running partner, someone who loves to play frisbee and ball, cuddle and can talk my ear off. Not to much to ask huh? Atlas" Atlas is an AKC registered Doberman, 1 yeas old. He is a bit shy but does warm up quickly. Atlas loves balls and playing fetch! When introduced slowly to other Dobermans, both male and female, he did well, but he would not do well with an overly excited dog that gets in his face. Atlas will need to work on his confidence as he was not socialized well with things outside of his home. He may benefit from having a confident canine in the home to help him build confidence in the strange unknown world he is now in. Atlas is young, eager and willing to learn so much more with his new master. Apply if interested!
