Adoption Pending! My name is Vito! I'm 1 years old. I love treats. Breakfast and supper are my favorite times of day. I love playing with other dogs. Dog parks are high on my list of whoo-hoos, lets have fun! My care givers tell me I'm mouthy, I tell them I have to taste things to get a real feel for them, yep, humans included. I guess the nip to my lady caregivers bum wasn't called for today, but a Doberman is entitled to a little fun ha! She just laugh at me, and half halfheartedly told me to stop. Sure I will, wink, wink, hehe! Well I'm available for adoption if your looking for a fun, happy, mischievous, kinda Dober-boy, See ya! Vito

Vito is a one in a million kind of dog. Sadly at only a year old, his owner died and he ended up in a shelter. Vito was also found to be heart worm positive. Vito has been treated for heart worm and is now in the recovery stage, post-treatment. He is doing very well and will beat those nasty worms! Treatment for dogs with heart worm is very painful for them plus they have to be very quite for at least a month while the body is trying to remove the dead worms waste. Did you know an adult heart worm can be up to 12 inches long? These worms live in dogs hearts, eventually killing the host. Once positive for heart worms the treatment is very expensive, running into the thousands at some vets. If his owner had only given him a once a month heart worm preventative. Well Vito is a lucky guy as we have made sure he has gotten treatment. He will have a long happy life and find a responsible owner to care for him like he so deserves. Heart worm disease is preventable and we do require all our adopted dogs to be on preventative throughout their lives once adopted. To read more on heart worm disease please go to the official heart worm website  https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics at the American Heart worm Society.
