Meet Bobbi… aka Bunny… a gorgeous black and rust, docked, cropped, 3-year-old Doberman straight out of Texas, serving elegance, sweetness, and a comeback story that deserves center stage. 

Now let’s talk about the part that isn’t cute… because it matters. Bobbi came into rescue with heartworm disease. Heartworms kill. It takes just one mosquito bite to infect a dog, and without simple monthly prevention, those parasites grow, damage the heart and lungs, and ultimately take lives. It’s preventable. It’s serious. And it’s something no dog should ever have to fight.

But Bobbi did… and she won. She has completed treatment, and right now she’s in her “prescribed princess rest period,” taking it easy with her foster family while her body clears out the last of those unwelcome invaders. Think cozy blankets, calm days, and strict instructions to not overdo it… which she is handling like a very good girl. 

And through all of this? She has remained pure gold. Bobbi is the definition of gentle. Soft, kind, and endlessly loving, she’s the type of dog who meets the world with quiet sweetness. She loves everyone, everything, and genuinely would not hurt a fly. If kindness were a competition, she’d already have the trophy sitting on the mantel.

She’s also beautifully obedient and incredibly tuned into her people. Bobbi doesn’t just listen… she wants to. She studies you like you’re important (because to her, you are), always ready to follow your lead and make you proud. It’s connection over correction, heart over habit.

United Doberman Rescue Adoption Process

1. Application Submission: Complete the adoption application thoroughly. Incomplete applications may be denied.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
2. We are 100% volunteer, please read adoption requirements BEFORE reaching out to us. 
3. Home Visit: A volunteer will schedule a home visit to assess the environment and discuss your expectations. All household members, including children, must be present.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
4. Veterinary Reference Check: Provide contact information for your current veterinarian. All existing pets must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
5. Meeting Dogs: Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs in their foster homes. If you have a resident dog, consult with the foster about bringing them along.
6. Adoption Finalization: If a suitable match is found, you'll sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Due to COVID-19 precautions, same-day adoptions are currently permitted.

 Key Adoption Policies

• Age Requirement: Adopters must be at least 21 years old and reside in the home where the dog will live.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
• WE do NOT ship our dogs ever!!!
• Children: Adult dogs are not placed in homes with children under 6 years old. Puppies may be considered for such homes if a fenced yard is present.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
• Living Arrangements: Dogs must live indoors and not be left unattended outdoors.
• Training Commitment: Adopters should be prepared to continue training and socialization. Formal obedience classes are encouraged.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
• Health Considerations: Dobermans are prone to certain health issues. Adopters should be financially prepared for potential veterinary expenses and consider pet insurance.
• Return Policy: If you're unable to keep your adopted dog, UDR requires the dog be returned to them, except in cases involving aggression or biting.(uniteddobermanrescue.org)
